Devlog #4

User centric design is the mentality that has the user/player the main focus for a particular project. The development process has the user as the center point in which all decisions will revolve around. User centric designs tend to have the player go through gameplay motions that they are already familiar with rather than trying something unknown to them.  Also in many cases, the users are actually involved in the development process in one way or another. There is a saying that "if the designer is having more fun than the player, there is a terrible mistake being made. User centric designs attempt to avoid this issue by having the users involved in the process of creating a game. Overall user centric designs have a lot of positives, but also some negatives. The positives of a user centric design are that the players receive a game that they are relatively happy with.  They play in an environment that is comfortable  for them and provides them with activities that are best suited for them. The major con I see in a user centric design is that there is not a lot of room for designers to try something new. Since the user in a way is calling the shots, designers cannot attempt to try and do something that is different. Something being different  is not always a bad thing, and can provide the players with something new and refreshing. A user centric design can prohibit that diversity.
